Cycle skills course

This is an on-road training session to help people ride safely in traffic.

> It follows Levels 1-2 of the National Cycle Skills curriculum
> Both timid and confident cyclists will get something out of the course
> It is suggested that this 4 hour course is run in 2 x 2 hr sessions
> If this does not suit your organisation, the course can be tailored to suit
> The maximum number of participants per course per tutor is 6 adults
> It is recommended that all participants have a current driver's licence
> Participants must have a road-worthy bicycle and approved helmet
> Sessions are run starting from your organisation's premises
> The CCC will fund up to 4 cycle skills courses per organisation

What does the course cover?
> Checking your bike is safe to ride
> Bike handling skills
> How to signal without wobbling
> Where to ride on the road
> How to pass parked or slower moving vehicles
> Turning into roads on both the left hand side and right hand side of the road
> Dealing with roundabouts
> How to use cycle paths and traffic light controlled intersections
> Riding on multilane roads and in queues of traffic
> How to find a safe route to ride to and from work
> Cycling at night



Basic cycle maintenance courses
This is an in classroom session to help you understand the basics of maintaining your bicycle.

> It is a 2 hour course that can be tailored to fit the needs of your organisation
> The maximum number of participants is 12
> Sessions are run at your organisation's premises or at a mutually suitable location
> The CCC will fund up to 4 cycle maintenance courses per organisation

What does the course cover?
> Checking your bike is safe to ride
> Understanding how and when to use your gears
> Fixing punctures
> Checking your brakes are safe
> Removing your bike wheels
> Fixing a broken chain
> Understanding about correct tyres and tyre pressure

PARK TOOL 10 HOUR HOME MECHANIC COURSE

Bike maintenance course for the home mechanic.
Suffering from a bottom bracket that just won't stop squeaking? Can't quite get your gears changing properly? This is the course for you!

Join us for five in-depth evening sessions or a weekend course on bike maintenance that covers everything you need to know and is taught by one of Christchurch's most experienced mechanics. This is a Park Tool (http://www.parktool.com/) accredited intermediate course and you will receive a fantastic colour Park Tool maintenance manual and Certificate of Attendance as part of the course fee. Participants will need to bring their own bikes.
